Pintu Kaya - Entah kenapa saya tertarik membuat postingan mengenai ubuntu. Selain karena saya mendapatkan artikel yang bagus ini dari okezone, juga mengingatkan pada teman saya yang menyarankan untuk memakai ubuntu. Mengapa? Entahlah saya juga belum tahu apa saja kelebihan Distro Linux ini.Tanpa disangka juga pengguna Ubuntu sudah mencapai angka 12 juta orang, wow. PadahalSeperti yang diketahui, jumlah pengguna Ubuntu pada tahun 2008, hanya sekira 8 juta pengguna. "Berdasarkan metodologi yang sama pada tahun 2008, kami percaya bahwa saat ini jumlah pengguna mencapai 12 juta," kata Chris Kenyon, vice president for OEM Canonical
Berdasarkan data Linux Planet, kehadiran Ubuntu 10.04 atau yang dikenal dengan nama kode 'Lucid Lynx' akan semakin mendongrak jumlah pengguna nantinya.Ckck, jadi berapa kali yah penggunanya?
Oh ya setelah saya cari apa saja keuntungan Ubuntu? ternyata saya dapat dari abang wikipedia. Berikut adalah cuplikan kata-kata yang saya kutip dari abang Wiki :
Ubuntu mempunyai filosofi sebagai berikut :- bahwa perangkat lunak harus tersedia dengan bebas biaya

memang mas harus nyoba dulu linux ubuntu 10.04 lucid lynx, karena GUI/tampilannya sangat simple dan tetep bagus serta mudah.
kesalahan utama dari windows atau mac osx sekalipun adalah: semua program atau aplikasi diletakkan begitu saja tanpa ada informasi fungsi dan kegunaan dari masing-masing program/aplikasi tsb.
mungkin masnya atau saya bicara dengan konteks sebagai orang yang sudah pernah kenal komputer sehingga tahu kegunaan dan fungsi dari masing-masing aplikasi /program tsb, namun coba kita letakkan posisi kita sebagai orang yang baru pertama kali memegang komputer, dalam konteks harfiah maupun leterlek (aduh saya gak bisa nulisnya..hehihihi).
pasti kita akan bingung pas megang mouse, ini tulisan buat apa saja ya? program ini untuk apa ya? mau ngetik pake apa? internetan pake yang mana?
nah, sesuai dengan pengalaman saya yang kebetulan belum genap sebulan menggunakan linux dari distro ubuntu versi 10.04 lucid lynx, saya langsung terkesima dengan cara berpikir para engineer yang menciptakan. menu tampilannya sangat simple dan efisien. dan yang terpenting, sudah dikelompokkan menurut fungsinya. ada folder favorit, applikasi, graphic, dsb.
jadi ketika kita ingin ngetik, tinggal klik folder office, disitu sudah ada program openoffice yang tentu saja free. mau edit foto? klik saja folder graphic, tersedia program free juga. jadi kita ndak usah bingung mau ngapain ketika pertama kali layar komputer menyala.
well, tidak usah dibahas siapa meniru siapa, pada akhirnya toh kita (terutama saya) sebagai pengguna akhir/end user yang merasakan manfaatnya dan bebas memilih yang mana. tetep jayalah pintu kaya.
